How to replace a Kenmore 9980 or 9690 (LG-based models)

1. Open the refrigerator and find the filter in the upper-right interior.
2. Turn the old filter counterclockwise a quarter turn and pull it out.
3. Insert the new filter, align the tabs, and turn clockwise until locked.
4. Flush 2 liters of water before drinking.
5. Reset the filter light by holding the reset button for 3 seconds.

How to replace Kenmore 9081, 9083, 9084, 9490 (Whirlpool-based models)

1. Locate the filter in the upper-right corner of the refrigerator interior.
2. Turn counterclockwise about a quarter turn and pull the filter straight out.
3. Remove any protective cap from the new filter.
4. Push in and turn clockwise until it stops and seats firmly.
5. Flush 2–3 liters through the water dispenser.
6. Press and hold the filter reset button (usually labeled “Filter” or “Ice/Water”) for 3–5 seconds.

1. Find the filter in the upper-right interior compartment.
2. Turn counterclockwise and pull out.
3. Insert the new filter and turn clockwise to lock.

How to find your exact Kenmore filter model number
