Kenmore Filter Number Decoder: 9081, 9082, 9083, 9085, 9490, 9690, 9980, 9999 Explained
Step 1: read your fridge’s model prefix
Kenmore refrigerators were built by other manufacturers, and the first three digits of the model number (on the sticker inside the door) identify the real builder:

Why Sears numbers still confuse everyone
Sears sold Kenmore filters under a 46-prefix catalog system (46-9081, 46-9690 and so on), and the packaging rarely mentioned the real manufacturer. Since the cartridges are physically identical to their everydrop, LG or Frigidaire equivalents, you can order either label for the same housing.
