Why Whirlpool renamed everything
Before 2015, each Whirlpool family brand printed its own engineering code on the same physical cartridge: a Maytag manual said UKF8001 while the identical filter shipped as PuriClean II, and Kenmore sold it again under a 46-prefix. The everydrop renumbering collapsed all of that into Filters 1 through 6 by housing shape. The numbering describes fit, not quality: a Filter 4 is not better than a Filter 1, it just fits a different fridge.
How to confirm the match before ordering
Trust the cartridge, not the fridge’s age. Pull the old filter and read every code printed on the label, then match it in the table above. My manual says UKF8001 but the store sold me an EDR4RXD1. Was that wrong?
No, it was exactly right: EDR4RXD1 is the current name for the UKF8001 housing. They interchange in both directions.
Are the “A” suffixes (W10295370A vs W10295370) different filters?
No. Suffix letters mark packaging revisions, not fit changes. Any revision fits the same housing.
Which of these filters carries the strongest certification?
