Frigidaire refrigerator filter replacement: quick, tool-free, and straightforward
All Frigidaire PureSource filters are designed for tool-free replacement and take under five minutes. This guide covers ULTRAWF, WF3CB, and WF2CB — the three most common Frigidaire water filters.
Identify your filter first
- ULTRAWF — most Frigidaire and Gallery models from 2010+
- WF3CB — Frigidaire side-by-side models 2006–2012
- WF2CB — older Frigidaire models, FC-100 housing
- FPPWFU01 (PurePour WF-1) — select newer Frigidaire models
Replacing the ULTRAWF (upper interior filter)
- Open the fridge and locate the filter in the upper-right interior compartment.
- Turn the old filter counterclockwise about a quarter turn.
- Pull the filter straight out. Have a small towel handy — a few drops of water may fall.
- Insert the new ULTRAWF into the housing, aligning the tabs.
- Turn clockwise until it locks. The filter should sit flush with the compartment cover.
- Flush 2 liters of water through the dispenser before use.
- Reset the filter light — hold the “Filter Reset” button for 3 seconds on the control panel.
Replacing the WF3CB
- Locate the filter in the upper interior of the fridge.
- Push the filter release button and pull the filter straight out.
- Insert the new WF3CB — push until it clicks.
- Flush 2 liters and reset the indicator.
Replacing the WF2CB
- The WF2CB sits in the FC-100 filter housing, typically inside the fridge or in a lower compartment.
- Turn counterclockwise to unlock and remove.
- Install the new filter by aligning and turning clockwise until seated.
- Flush 3 liters — the WF2CB has a large carbon block that requires a longer flush.
Frigidaire air filters: a quick note
If your Frigidaire also has an air filter (a common add-on for odor control), those need replacing every 6 months too. Check out our FRGPAAF1 PureAir air filter and FRPFUAF1 PureFresh universal air filter.
