Six filters, six different fridges
Whirlpool consolidated its filter lineup under the everydrop brand, numbering the cartridges 1 through 6 plus Filter A. The numbering is convenient once you know it, but each number corresponds to a physically different cartridge that fits a different generation of Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana and JennAir refrigerators. They are not interchangeable.
Find your filter by location in 30 seconds
- Slide-out cartridge in the upper-left corner of the fresh food compartment: Filter 1 or Filter 2. Fridges from 2013 onward.
- Quarter-turn cartridge in the base grille, below the doors: Filter 3 or Filter 5. Mostly side-by-side models.
- Round cartridge that twists into the interior back or ceiling (Maytag, Amana, JennAir): Filter 4.

Installation basics
- Locate the cartridge (interior upper-left, base grille, or interior twist-in depending on your filter number).
- Release the old cartridge: push-button eject for interior slides, quarter-turn counterclockwise for grille and twist-in types.
- Insert the new cartridge and lock it: push until it clicks, or quarter-turn clockwise.
- Flush 2 to 3 gallons through the dispenser before drinking. Cloudy first glasses are trapped air and carbon dust, both harmless.
- Reset the filter indicator: on most models, hold the Filter or Water Filter button for 3 seconds.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a Filter 1 instead of a Filter 2?
No. Despite similar upper-left interior locations, the cartridge bodies and housings differ. Match the exact number printed on your current cartridge.
My old filter says UKF8001. Which everydrop number is that?
UKF8001 is the legacy Maytag part number for everydrop Filter 4 (EDR4RXD1). Any Filter 4 cartridge fits the same housing.
Is EDR1RXD1 the same as W10295370A?
Yes. W10295370A is the original Whirlpool engineering number for the cartridge now sold as everydrop Filter 1 (EDR1RXD1). They are the same filter.
How often should I replace an everydrop filter?
Every 6 months or 200 gallons, whichever comes first. Households that use the dispenser heavily may need replacement closer to every 4 to 5 months.
