What happens if you pick the wrong one
The LT700P and LT1000P look similar at a glance but use different mounting systems: twist-in for the LT700P, push-in with a quarter-turn lock for the LT1000P. A mismatched cartridge either refuses to seat, or seats partially and leaks inside the compartment once water pressure hits the housing. Always confirm against the label on the cartridge you are removing, not just the fridge’s age.

- LT800P: NSF/ANSI 42 and 53.
- LT1000P: NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401. The 401 certification adds pharmaceuticals, BPA and other emerging contaminants, which makes it the strongest certification stack of the three.

My Kenmore model starts with 795. Which filter do I buy?
A 795 prefix means your Kenmore was built by LG. Check the cartridge label: it will carry a Kenmore number (9690, 9490, 9980) or an LG LT or ADQ number. Use the tables above to translate, then order either label version.
Is the LT1000PC different from the LT1000P?
No. LT1000P, LT1000PC and LT1000PCS are the same cartridge sold through different retail channels. Any of them fits any LT1000P housing.
Can I force an LT700P into an LT1000P housing?
No, and trying can crack the housing. The mounting systems are different by design. If your cartridge does not seat with light pressure and a smooth quarter turn, it is the wrong filter, not a stubborn one.
Which of the three should I buy if I want the strongest filtration?
You do not get to choose between them: each fits a different housing. The filter your fridge was designed for is the only one that fits. What you can choose is certification level within that model’s options, and among the three families only the LT1000P carries NSF/ANSI 401 on top of 42 and 53.
